Join the Copyright Society on Thursday, March 23rd at 11:30am – 2pm PT for “Copyright and the California Coast”, the annual premier Los Angeles copyright event presented by the United States Register of Copyrights and Director of the U.S. Copyright Office, Shira Perlmutter. Accompanying the Register and assisting in the presentation will be General Counsel and Associate Register of Copyrights, Suzanne (Suzy) Wilson. Ms. Perlmutter and Ms. Wilson will bring the latest in copyright law, at the highest levels in the United States, to our audience, including recent crucial developments in copyright law legislation, litigation, developments in the Copyright Office, including recent policy studies and regulatory matters in a comprehensive presentation and discussion that is unique in scope and approachability.
The Los Angeles Chapter of the Copyright Society presents this annual event as an important connection between Washington, D.C., the Copyright Office, and the California creative and legal community. This year we will have our customary format of a luncheon in Los Angeles, and a virtual livestream for copyright enthusiasts across the United States and globally. The Song & Sound Retreat
presented by Recording Boot Camp
at Capon Springs, WV
May 7 – 12, 2023
The Song & Sound Retreat is intentionally not like anything else. It is far more than recording and songwriting workshops. It is about community, music, and great sound. It is five days of learning, listening, and relaxing in a community made up of world-class mentors and fellow music makers. Each year about 80-90% of the attendees sign up again for the following year.
This retreat started as two separate programs, the “Mountain Recording Retreat” and the “Mountain Songwriting Retreat”, but after an experimental combined event in 2021, we found that the participants loved the new format. The two programs are now combined, with the possibility of adding more components in the coming years.
We will have daily workshops, listening panels, easy access to mentors, DIY gear building workshops, and bingo where you can win prizes from the Capon shop.
