    BIOGRAPHIES

    Aaron Davis | CEO | Exploration Group

    Aaron Loring Davis is the CEO and Co-Founder of Exploration Group, LLC, a media management and technology company headquartered in Los Angeles.  He is primarily responsible for strategic direction, business development, and software development. Exploration is proud to be the company of choice to compile and administer the metadata identifying much of the world’s most important media.

    Davis has been a speaker and writer at events and publications produced by Billboard, National Association of Recording Industry Professionals (NARIP), the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), SESAC, MIT Media Lab, and others.  He is a member of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), the California Copyright Conference (CCC), and the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).

    Aaron earned a degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and is a self-taught computer scientist.  Davis is a regular contributor to the Sierra Club, Girl Scouts of America, and multiple charities that support youth literacy and education. He enjoyed an international rugby career, finds sailing to be magical, and loves his dog.

     

    Rene Merideth | COO | Exploration Group

    Rene Merideth is the Co-Founder and COO of Exploration, a media management and technology company headquartered in Los Angeles. She is primarily responsible for copyright, licensing, and royalties. Exploration is proud to be the company of choice to compile and administer the metadata identifying much of the world’s most important media.

    Rene graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee with a degree in Music Business, after which she quickly climbed the music publishing ranks. Starting as a Mechanical Licensing Manager at Windswept, she has since served as the Director of Licensing at Bug Music, Director of Licensing at BMG Chrysalis, and VP of Operations at AdShare.

    Rene has been a speaker and writer at events and publications produced by Billboard, the National Association of Recording Industry Professionals (NARIP), the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP), Songwriters of North America (SONA), the Grammy Foundation, the Recording Academy, and is board member of the California Copyright Conference (CCC). In addition, she hosts her own podcast called “Red Dragon Sessions,” where she tells stories – good and bad – about her childhood and her time on the road. Rene is also an active contributor and supporter of Steven Tyler’s Janie’s Fund, a non-profit organization helping young women overcome abuse and neglect.

     

    Catharine Wood | Planetwood Studios, LLC

    Catharine Wood is an established Los Angeles-based engineer/producer and studio owner. She launched her versatile career engineering on high-profile commercials — including the first Apple iPhone spot. As a mix/mastering engineer, she has delivered over 500 (both original and client) commercially released songs airing on many major networks. Catharine is a
    Grammy® LA Chapter Producers & Engineers Wing Committee Member and holds positions on the L.A. Recording School’s Professional Advisory Committee, the Songwriters Of North America (SONA) Steering Committee and is proud to serve on The Songwriter Fund Grant Executive Selection Committee. In 2019 she was featured in Chapter 4 of “Women In Audio”, published by AES/Routledge…alongside nearly one hundred notable pioneering female audio engineers in the history of audio recording.     David Schneider | AVP | Distribution and Administration Services, BMI

    David Schneider is AVP, Distribution & Administration Services Analytics at (BMI) Broadcast Music, Inc. in Nashville. In this role, Schneider and his team are responsible for ensuring that BMI receives and processes billions of digital performance data each quarter from BMI’s licensees including major digital platforms, radio stations and more to support accurate royalty distributions to BMI’s songwriters, composers and music publishers. In addition, Schneider works with multiple internal teams to develop new distribution methodologies that increase efficiencies, create quality controls and improve customer service to affiliates.

    Schneider joined BMI in 2018 as an Executive Director and was promoted to his current role in 2019. Before coming to BMI, he held positions at Pandora as a Partner Manager and Music Publishing Operations and prior to Pandora, he worked at BMG Rights Management as the Senior Director of Royalties and the Harry Fox Agency as Senior Client Advisor. 

    Schneider holds a B.A. in English from Boston University and a Master’s degree in Performing Arts Administration from New York University. 
     

    Bill Colitre | Vice President & General Counsel | Music Reports, Inc. 

    Bill Colitre is Vice President & General Counsel of Music Reports, Inc.  In this role, he serves as counsel to Music Reports, strategic consultant to its clients, and head of the company’s Licensing  group.  He began his legal career in the Entertainment Department of Loeb & Loeb LLP where he was a founding member of the iLaw Group and later served as counsel to the firm of Altschul & Olin, LLP, the Roll International Corporation (parent company of Fiji Water LLC, Teleflora LLC and other enterprises) and CBS Paramount Network Television Home Entertainment. He holds a BA in Communication from U.C. San Diego and a JD from Loyola Law School, where he obtained First Honors awards in Computer Law and Internet Law, as well as the American Jurisprudence Award in Copyright.  He is currently an Adjunct Professor at USC’s Gould School of Law teaching Music Law in Practice.
