President’s Message

    Message from the President

    Dear Friends and Members,

It is a great honor and responsibility to serve in the role of President of the California Copyright Conference for the 2020-2021 season.  I’m excited about the opportunity and hope to continue the forward trajectory of the organization.

It will come as no surprise to those of you reading this message that both our country and our industry are facing monumental challenges stemming from the unprecedented health crisis impacting societies on a global scale.

Out of necessity, and similar to what many other organizations have had to do, the CCC has for the foreseeable future completely reoriented its interaction with its membership and audience base from in person gatherings to complete digital presentation and communication.

We anticipate through the tireless efforts of our Executive Board and Board of Directors, the transition will be smooth and there will be an entire season of interesting and relevant webinar discussions pertinent to our membership and audience.  Topics will range from consideration of racial justice and equity issues in the industry, current MLC developments to your favorite Broadway jukebox musicals to name a few.  Up to date information on our panels and events can be found by visiting the “Meetings” portion of our website.

Our efforts in helping to develop future contributors to our industry shall continue through our education presentations and our John Braheny Scholarship. We hope to continue the fundraising momentum from the prior season through the auctioning and raffling of generously donated items from our members and friends as well as tax-deductible financial contributions.

If you are not already a member or a lapsed member, please consider joining or renewing your membership.  Membership is not only an excellent resource for gaining valuable information, but also affords you the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. Our strength lies in our membership and we look forward to expanding and enriching our community.

Thank you for your continued support!

    Garrett M. Johnson, Esq.

    California Copyright Conference President 2020-2021
