Message from the President
A Little Something For Everyone
I am honored to serve as the president of The California Copyright Conference (“The CCC”) for 2017-18. As The CCC was founded in 1953, I stand proudly as its 54th president, and follow in a long line of very talented presidents. With your help, I hope to build upon the excellence and leadership that has preceded me.
Although there is a lot to do, during my term as president, I would specifically like to accomplish three goals: (1) increase the membership of our organization; (2) increase the visibility of our John Braheny Scholarship Fund; and (3) provide quality panels that address new and interesting topics within the ambit of the music industry.
Membership: Today’s music business is driven by e-mail, smartphones, and social media, however, nothing beats furthering a career or getting a deal done than having “personal relationships” with others. The CCC is a valuable tool for anyone serious about their career in the music business in that it fosters, promotes, and fortifies “personal relationships” in the music industry — time and time again, I’ve seen this with my own eyes. Although The CCC is a regional organization, it is a tight-knit community of varied music industry professionals who work, live, network, and play in one of the premier entertainment centers of the world, Los Angeles. Also, stay tuned as David Quan, The CCC’s vice-president, and I initiate The CCC’s first mixer/membership event – sure to be an amazing and fun networking experience; more details to follow.
John Braheny Scholarship Fund: One of my other goals is to help increase the profile of our scholarship fund. I am grateful to have our 2017-18 scholarship committee head, Garrett Johnson, spearhead this initiative so more qualified music industry studies majors have the opportunity to build a career for themselves within the music industry.
Panel Topics: I’ve always felt that one great way to stay current on developments in the music industry is to attend panels with leading experts who are engaging and who can discuss and enlighten us regarding such panel topic. The CCC panel topics provide answers to confounding, complex, and/or unfamiliar issues, which attendees and/or members learn from, all while building new relationships or buttressing existing relationships from attending such panel topics. Because of The CCC’s enduring commitment to provide amazing panel topics, we shall continue to find new ideas and interesting topics to cover. I look forward to working with everyone at The CCC to develop another year of quality panels.
I hope I’ve piqued your interest to take another look at what The CCC has to offer. So, if you’re not yet a member of The CCC, please consider joining our organization of varied music industry professionals. And, if you’re already a member, please reach out and find a way to increase your participation within The CCC.
Of course, should you have any comments, questions, and/or constructive suggestions, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to seeing you at a CCC event this year and working with my fellow board members to bring you an amazing 2017-18.
J. Charley Londoño, Esq.
