    MEET THE CCC MENTORSHIP PROGRAM 2025 INAUGURAL CLASS

    This year, the California Copyright Conference unveiled its new Mentorship Program, a 4-week program designed to connect a cohort of 10 emerging music professionals with seasoned leaders in the music industry.

    After receiving an incredible number of responses which exceeded all expectations, the CCC Mentorship Committee has made its final selections and is thrilled to welcome these applicants into the CCC Mentorship Program 2025!

    The quality of the applicants who took the time to thoughtfully respond was highly impressive, and the committee would like to thank them and encourage them to submit again the future.

    Our mentors are thoroughly looking forward to sharing their experience and expertise with the CCC Mentorship Program class of 2025.

    Ada Papila
    Ada Papila is a Music Coordinator at Paramount, specializing in sync licensing, marketing, and music supervision. With a background in A&R, artist development, and publishing from her time at Apple Music/Platoon, she also helped initiate RAIDAR project, a blockchain-based music licensing platform. As a Berklee College of Music graduate, Ada is passionate about creating a more artist-friendly industry by advocating for fairer contracts, licensing, and revenue models. She is particularly passionate about sync as a powerful tool for storytelling, using music to enhance narratives and deepen emotional impact in visual media.

    Alexander Edwards
    “I have been working in live entertainment production for about 3 years as an audio engineer for production companies and venues in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. During this time, I was able to perform various technical tasks, as well as interact and collaborate with artists, managers, and tour crew for various performance types. I have also been studying music in college for 3 years, first in commercial music with a focus on Jazz Guitar, and now in Music industry studies with more emphasis on the business side of music.”

    Betty Ke
    Betty Ke is an independent singer-songwriter with a passion for blending Western and Eastern cultures through her Indie Pop music. With a background in applied music and vocal performance, she has gained experience in music publishing, labels, and A&R, and now focuses on expanding her presence both in the U.S. and globally. Betty’s music combines emotional depth with cross-cultural influences, and she is dedicated to building a sustainable career while connecting with audiences worldwide through her art.

    Brandon Brown
    Brandon Brown is a Guitarist and Composer from Glasgow, Scotland. Having been involved in music his entire life, he went on to study music at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2018. He moved out to LA to write music for films while also pursuing his Masters Degree in Law (focusing on Entertainment Law) from the University of Southern California. Brandon continues to work in the film and TV industry, having worked with Apple, Netflix, Meta, and NBC.

    Byrd Brittany Grier
    Growing up in a family and household full of singers and musicians, Byrd Brittany Grier spent most of her years in the live music space singing in church, performing in various high school bands, and after college, writing and performing original music in the Greater Philadelphia Area. After college, she also co-owned and operated a small recording studio servicing the needs of local artists. Her role here included basic recording, vocal arranging, and songwriting for clients. She became interested in the world of music in TV and film, and eventually landed a job at The Walt Disney Company, working in the music affairs department for National Geographic. Here she is enjoying taking on many new and exciting projects, while learning more and more about the music industry daily.

    Cara Nicole
    Northern California-based Cara Nicole is a lyricist and recording artist whose intimate vocals thread introspective themes of struggle and heartbreak through ethereal pop soundscapes. A writer at heart, she wasn’t sure where she fit in the music industry—until a sync placement in Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists opened a new path. Since then, she has gained footing as a songwriter, signing with Atrium Music and landing additional placements in shows like Netflix’s The Ultimatum and Temptation Island. Along the way, she has built relationships with incredible mentors and worked with talented collaborators, wild to find the corners where her creative passions intersect with the music business.

    Carita Miller
    Carita Miller’s journey in the music industry is a testament to her passion, dedication, and deep understanding of the business behind the music. As an independent music professional, Carita has carved out a multifaceted career that spans various aspects of the industry. She manages a podcast, oversees the careers of multiple artists, and holds the esteemed title of Music Editor at Beautiful Machine Magazine. Carita is also preparing to take on a leadership role as the head of the music department at Mainstreem Media, where her industry expertise and leadership skills will be on full display. Additionally, she has independently music supervised over 15 movies to date, showcasing her versatility and deep understanding of the industry.

    Catalina Herraiz
    Catalina Herraiz’s journey in the music industry began at 16 as a booking agent intern in her native Spain. Driven by her passion for artist development, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue Music Industry Studies at LACM. There, she collaborated with Rose Flower Records on artist marketing strategies and event production. Her natural inclination to support emerging talent led her to begin managing Pop, Folk Artist EUNIQUE, a role she continues today. Bridging her Spanish roots with her LA experience, she created Jaleo, an initiative supporting emerging Spanish music talent. Currently, while completing her studies, Catalina interns at The Grey Administration, and serves as Sync/Licensing Coordinator for LACM’s label 370 Music Group, combining her interests in artist development and music publishing.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

    Chantal Meggett
    “With over three years of experience as a Music Coordinator, I have developed a foundation in music publishing, licensing, and rights management. My career began in college, where I worked at a student-run record label and completed multiple internships across different areas of the music industry, discovering my passion for music publishing. After graduating, I joined The Music Playground, gaining hands-on experience in sync licensing and copyright infringement, deepening my understanding of the industry’s legal and creative parts. Currently at ABC Disney, I work closely with producers and industry professionals to ensure seamless music clearance and publishing operations. As I continue to grow, I am eager to expand my expertise in music publishing while sharpening my leadership skills and contributing to the industry.”

    James King III
    James King III, son of James King Jr. who wrote the 80’s hits “Let Me Do It” and “Valley of Love”, wants to bring his father’s music to the masses.  Although a novice in the music Publishing space, James King III brings his uncanny curiosity and subsequently his ability to want to learn more about the music industry overall to the table. He is the proud owner of a one-stop music publisher, Count On Me Music, LLC. which owns a plethora of late 70’s early 80’s Soul funk r&b rock music ready for sync, etc.
