We will be at the Tam O’Shanter in Atwater Village this year, to network, celebrate and honor this year’s Apollo Award Recipients.
In addition to the Apollo Awards, we will have our annual silent auction, entirely digital this year, to raise money for the CCC’s John Braheny Scholarship Award (please consider donating an item or two). You may contact us to inquire about donating auction items. The Tam’s holiday carolers may also make an appearance near the end of the evening! This is going to be an amazing evening you will not want to miss!

Biographies
David Hirshland began his career as a music publisher in 1995 for Bug Music, initially as its VP of Business & Legal Affairs, later as Executive VP and in 2006 as President. When BMG purchased Bug in 2011 David served as Executive VP of Client Services and Catalog. In these roles David was instrumental in the growth of both companies, overseeing the catalogs of such icons as Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, Woody Guthrie, Willie Dixon and Iggy Pop as well as contemporary artists Wilco, The National, Ryan Adams and Richard Thompson among many others.
In 2015 David engineered the purchase of the Buddy Holly catalog as well as the name image and likeness rights of that notable architect of rock and roll and currently serves as Executive Producer of the upcoming Buddy biopic “That’ll Be the Day.”
Prior to his stint as a publisher David was an attorney in the entertainment law firm of Rosenfeld, Meyer and Susman after obtaining his law degree at UCLA. He is also proud of having served as President of the California Copyright Conference and Association of Independent Music Publishers.
Eric Polin is the Founder & Principal of EMP Music Publishing, a music publishing admin and music business consultancy firm. He is currently Vice President of the LA Chapter of the Association Of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP).
Prior to that, he was Sr. Vice President of Music Publishing at Universal Pictures for 17 years where he oversaw the administration of their film and TV music catalog dating back to 1928. Previously, he was a partner at Wixen Music Publishing where he oversaw the publishing administration of some of the top songwriter/artists in the industry.
Mr. Polin is Vice President of the Association of Independent Music Publishers’ LA chapter. He is also a past president of the California Copyright Conference and was the founder and chairman of their scholarship committee. He has moderated CCC panels on artist managers, independent music publishing, film music, digital distribution, and co-produced panels on music supervision and indie record labels.
Mr. Polin has been quoted in The New York Times, and his opinions have been published by Billboard magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and the U.S. Copyright Office. He is a frequent guest speaker at the music industry programs of Northeastern University, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Northridge, having also participated in industry events at those schools as well as at USC and UCLA.
He holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BA in Economics from UCLA.
